Yesterday started with me landing in one of the ponds… I managed to bounce on the water so that only the bottom of my Supair Vampair harness got abit wet. It’s aerodynamics served me well ;-)

But it was showtime. I hope someone got a good photo. Otherwise i will have to do it again ;-)

After a first flight with my new glider, and old Boom3, that i had to make short beauce of tangled lines. I went to takeoff again. had a sweet flight with the Boom. Thermaling and flying around. Back up to takeoff and landed. Just in time for the race posse to arrive.

A short task was set and off we went. Start was at 13.45 and race was on, even though it was only practice…

I managed to get a little behind for the first 2 waypoint, but at turnpoint 3 i cought up with number 2-3 and they bombed. Lucky me! But i did not get much further. Still i beat them.

Fredrik Lindholm got the furtherest and i was second. Sweet.

After this lovely flight me and Jonna hurried up the lifts and with us we had tent, sleepingbags and the whole kit. We walked the last bit up to the top and put our tent up. Fired up the bbq, grillad some chorizos and chilled with a cup of rose wine…

A room with a view dont U think?

Then came sunset, and it was breathtaking. Soooo beautiful. And this is 5 kilometers from where we live. Adventure at home. Sweet.

I guess the pictures tells alot :-)

Morning on Åreskutan. Good life.

Today was first raceday but at the top it was windy. Too windy for flying.

Me and Jonna was not hurrying and when the Cafe on the top oppened we enjoyed a cup of coffe.

Then Fredrik L callad and was saying that it was 2 m/s on the takeoff!!! hmmm. Got out and yeah it was flyable.

Looking for my helmet. It was nowhere to be found. I had lost it in one of the gondolas…

Walked down to normal takeoff and borrowed a helmet. Flew down. Very overloaded with campingkit…

But i was to tired to race. Alot of the sleep was ruined by the noisy tent beacause of the strong wind. So i cancelled my participating. But only for today.

Later after a lovely lunch at Twinns i went up and got my lost helmet and flew down. SAT and a few wingovers. The G-force is a fine glider.

Tomorrow is raceday.

A real Budweiser…

Well i was very close to do an pondlanding the other day. But i missed. Emil Dahlberg got a photo of me and Filip Willners flying in low over the ponds of Draklanda. The guy infront, Jakob Nilsson, well he’s happy because he’s in Åre when the sun shines…

Yesterday i had 350 visitors here on www.carpe-diem.se. A new personal best. Thank’s for checking in :-)

It was a rainy day but the evening was breathtaking with a red sunset.

Now cloudbase is below our balcony but it’s supposed to clear later today. Tomorrow looks great. Cant wait!

A couple of Iphonepics from 2 days ago. Enjoy.

Windy day with excellent flying

Today i was out of power. I chilled on the landing until power returned to me. It took awhile…

But i got a good second flight, since my first ended up in lee sink and a short liftride back up to an alternative takeoff… ;-)

Lenticularis clouds were shaping up in the sky.The hangies where loving it!  It was strong thermals with strong wind. And some pilots in the air worked hard to stay down.

I knew that lentis is bad news and kept myself low. With alot of wingovers :-). Sweet. Small gliders are fun, and safe!

As usuall it’s good fun to watch hangies land. Today was no exception. Ernst got abit short and ended up in the ponds. A first in Åre. Congratulations!

I have to admit that i was as close as it gets to land in the pond yesterday. But got to dry land without getting wet. I think maybe pictures of that might pop up on the web… ;-)

Sune took a nice picture of me the other week. When i did a Budwieser… (fuckin’ close to water)

Bluebird day turned sickbird day!!!

Sooooooooo gooooooood flying!

The rest of the pictures in todays blogg is from my Iphone.

Started tandem with a friends brother. We got a sweet flight for about 45 minutes, almost managed to do an early toplanding, i came in low. So i had to abort mission. We flew down, and landed hard because i made a silly approach. We bounced of the edge of the pools by the landing.

Passanger okey and very happy. I was abit sore. :-) But it was a good flight.

And it was to get better…

Got up to takeoff and it was soarable. Realy nice, and it was possible to connect to thermals. It was hard to stay low and after a while i flew in to the windy top of Åreskutan. And toplanded. Chilled and talked to people there. Then i flew out and soared awhile. landed on the normal takeoff and did some wagga. Soo much fun. Then i decided to fly down and get my acroglider.

I was wrong. I flew out and hit a strong thermal. 4-6+ m/s up. Sweet, todays highest?  At 2068meters i flew out towards the valley to see if i could go XC. Sadly the southerly wind stopped me from going in the fun directions. Northerly xc in åre sucks. No roads after Kall.

So i used the hight for gliding around in rather calm air. Lovely enjoyable flying.

Chilled in the landing area instead of hurrying up again. Lots of intressting landing approches was to be seen. Even an icelanding… Scary for us who know how weak the ice is. One pilot got wet.

Damn good day in Åre.

Lazy day turned realy good

Picture above is from yesterdays afterflight in Björnen Åre.

Jonna got a couple of nice pics yesterday.

Well the morning was abit lazy, but Jonna wanted to go for a tandemflight and it looked like we would get some soaring in Tväråvalvet.

Though when we got up the wind was gone… So we went up on the south takeoff and waited for the thermals to come up our way. They did…

Me and Jonna got a perfect timing. Thermaled up and above the rest, only Magnus Eriksson stayed up with us. He actually toplanded. I could not get the last meters to be able to get to takeoff. So we thermaled abit more and then “toplanded” on Hummeln and had a coffe and viewed Pål and Henning coming down with their tandems. Pål had a couple of nice flybyes very close. Then me and Jonna tookoff again and had a short thermaling session and then went down.

I changed glider, got my g-force20 and went up. It was soarable up there, even with my small glider. I did some waggakiting and a couple of spinnlandnings(sorry You who i managed to wrap in my glider 3 times)…

Then the wind died and it started to rain. :-(

So i flew down along the Freeride park in the 1000meter slope. Scared acouple of jibbers. My glider is now drying out at Skysport. Thank’s.

Tomorrow it’s xc i hope. Pleeeease.

Here’s some pictures of some of my friends, i just wanted to share with U…

Lova is Magnus and Emmas new dog. It seams to like me…

Jonna took the dog pics :-)

Happy days in Åre Sweden :-)

Åre is showing us it’s best spring side. Sunny, warm and sweet thermals. Not to strong and very little turbulence. Yesterday was a grey day. I started with a top to bottom flight with my Octane flx. Heli was on the menue. I fucked up. hehe, no worries but the glider looked crap. Like as an accordian on lsd… :-)

Got back up with the skilift. Soaring time. Sweet. But abit weak for my 120 hookin kilos on a 24m2 glider. Anyway cloudbase started sinking and wind got stronger. Great fun! Real wagga conditions and soooo much fun.

And then today came along. And it was a great day. Thermals from 12 o’clock and on until the evening. I got enough flying today… Did a short but technical out and return with my Ozone Mantra2. Good training for next weekends Swedish Cup comp here in Åre… ;-) I’m ready to kick ass or get it kicked ;-).

Åre has been sweet to me the last days. Excellent conditions and tomorrow is looking intressting. I will be there.

See You on the mountain or in the air.

Great flying day in Åre, acro, soaring and xc…

Started with a little ttb early on, weak thermals got me some extra hight for some deepstall training. Fun.

I then chilled, and waited. For my friend Martin to bring me my vario and gps… I forgot it in my car. :-)

Meanwhile Brettster did groundhandling and soaring… a rare sight for sore eyes… hehe.

Tehn i took of asap and took the first possible thermal as high as a needed, flew in and toplanded. First of the day, felt fine, took off again, planed to go to Duved and thermaled abit but aborted mission.

It was to weak for my preference. So i went back to takeoff and play around in the soaring winds. Fun :-)

Topplanded and had a coffe. Then took another flight over to Totthummeln and thermaled for awhile. Decided to fly home. At home, Björnen, i thermaled some, got to 1200 masl and went on.

Low and fast is the way to go… Thermaled alittle and landed on a nice field after Såå.

Flew10k or alittle more. Nothin that will end up in the history books, but great fun to do a mini xc. Technical flying rocks :-)

Aclima makes fantastic Merino wool clothing. They are perfect for paragliding. Get some!!!

Thanks to Aclima for the support. :-)

Flying!!! Soaring and wagga in Stoneyvalley :-), and some fashion statements…

Finally after days of horrible weather the sun came through but winds were still to strong. Though i could no longer wait around in the valley. I needed airtime.

So up i went with the gondola. Some local pilots smiled and did not put alot of trust in my adventure.

They where wrong!

Picture above by Filip Haraldsson

Picture below by Lars Hedström(skysport)

I got one and a half hour of soaring and wagga in Stendalen(stoneyvalley in swedish) with my U-turn G-force and loads of fun was had. Filip was the checking the winds for his students. I was to strong at first but then mellowed out abit and soo he went to fetch them. I waited at the bottom, had a raindeersandwish and a coff. When he came back the wind had gotten stronger and it was very nice wagga conditions. When me and Filip were getting tired of playing with the gliders and the terrain, Pål came flying down to us with his tiny Gradient Seven… He always have to do thing better then us… ;-)

Well we packed up and went down. Pål kited far up and flew all the way down.

Sometimes Jibberstyle goes the wrong way if U ask me… Here’s an example. I dont want to sound like an old boring dude but this dreescode is fuckugly… or am i getting old?

This is the Sweet flightsuit i have ordered for next winter. Nice huh? or have i lost it? ;-)

Enjoying my new felt sauna hat in Åre

Lots of flying the last days, and yesterday i was invited together with åres finest acrocracks to do a show at a outdoor afterski/poolparty… We flew out did our stuff, and got lots of applause. And a free beer and burger:-). Fun was had.

Today me and Jonna went for the slopes, slush conditions and a good lunch at Bobbos hyddan.

This evening i enjoyed my new felt sauna hat, given to me by Jonna. I worked great and made me look completely raving mad… I like it:-)
