And it was time for a Barricade pizza night…

Oh what sweet times i’m having. Not realy any superflying but that’s alright. I’ve flown and had nice times with my friends.

Yesterday i went to Gourdon to fly. But it was much to strong. Dav and Luc from Ozone turned around as well. So i spent the day recovering from abit of very bad stomache. Painfull. Feeling better today.

Ben Moss t-shirt…

Back in Greolieres i enjoyed the sun and some chilled rose wine. Lovely. Later in the afternoon i noticed that the strong westwind was dropping. Soo i took a hike to 300 takeoff for a short but sweet toptobottom before a pizzanight at Barricade with some friends of mine.

All in all a very nice day. Sunshine, flying, wine, food and good friends. What more could U possibly ask for?

Check the film. http://www.vimeo.com/4912681

Today is even more windy. No flying, maybe later. But now i’m drinking rose in the sun… ;-)

Tonight i help Bob D to packup his stuff and tomorrow i fly home to Sweden via Trondheim, Norway.

It’s been a short but sweet holiday in Greolieres.

Oh yeah, went to Decathlon yesterday, they have a new 4.2 seconds tent. Look’s great!

Sun, flying and wine. Lots of it all!

Wow. Here’s the film from the last two days. http://www.vimeo.com/4889411

Sadly i ran out of batteries during the flights… They were sweet!

This area of the world is the best. It has to be, sunshine, epic flying, good friend and cheap good wine.

I cant say i’ve made the most out of the flying the last days but i’ve had loods of fun. Flying the Little cloud Spiruline insted of thermaling. The small gliders are fun. It’s abit back to the roots and light to carry. They should be flown with lightweight harness in my honest opinion. This is real freeflying. Not the longest or the hardest. Just very free:-)

I realy feel alive when flying along in a harness that looks like they did 20 years ago…

Today i had two flights with the Little cloud Spiruline 18 and a Kortel Kairns harness. I thermic conditions i stayed along the ridge awhile. Taking off is just abit faster, landing takes some planing but is not realy any more difficult than on a normal glider. And the flying is lively. You feel every move in the air. But the glider is stable.
Until You want to play… Must be fantastic on a coastal soaring site with strong wind.

It’s been another warm day here and i helped Pierre at CUMULUS with some of his students. They later invited me for lunch at the Barricade. Lunch with lots of wine… I had to go home and have a short powernap. Good flying and food and wine does that to me. :-)

Pierre runs trips to Marocco during october and has done so the last 15 years, if You want to fly and enjoy Marocco go with Pierre. http://www.ecole-cumulus.com

After sleep i went to St vallier to return the Spiruline to it’s owner, Jean Vincent Ducroc. Who is opening a new shop in St Vallier de thiey.

Here’s some quickshots from the last days…

Above an example what old protos can be used for…

Verity lent me her lovely Kangoo for the week. very nice of her. I owe U…

Woke up waiting for the rain… It did not show up:-)

I went to St Vallier to fetch a Little cloud spiruline 18 and a Kortel kairn harness. Got it but there was not any flying in sight. Dark sky and very humid.

So i had lunch with the XCmag staff and then went back to greolieres and edited a short film from yesterdays flying.

Enjoy.

I’ve had a great may. Good touringskiing and ww kayaking. But i’ve been wining about poor flying conditions in Åre during may so i finally left Åre for a week of good flying.

Offcourse i went to my paradise, Greolieres in Alpes Maritimes.

Drove from Åre 04.00 in the morning, we had to scrape the ice of the window on my bus. Drove to Trondheim, a on and a half hour drive.

Took a flight to Nice. 40 euros… But i was very tired on the trondheim airport

Got on the 500 bus towards Pre du lac and after 10 minutes i needed to take a leak… Shit. I did not want to jump of because there a few busses on a sunday. So i restrained myself. In Le Rouanet i got of. Had enough. Needed to pee :-)

Found the bathroom next to the fountain by the park. Pleased with that i phoned Charlie King to let her know that i would not be on the bus i had said tobe on… She laughed.

So i walked up to the park to stay in the shade of the big platanes(trees) and meet Aude and Kris. Known paraglidingglobertrotters. We had a short chat and i wished them good luck with their new baby soon to arrive :-)

It was realy warm. Superwarm.

And i was much to worn out after a short nights sleep and long day of traveling. Now i just walked around and said hello to people in the village. It’s such a nice warm feeling to get kisses from almost everyone U meet along the roads. I realy like Greolieres, Cipieres and the people who live here!

When in the village i noticed that someone was flying down from the Cheiron. In a tiny glider.

I guessed it was Dav Dagault. It was. He had ran up to 700 takeoff and flew his Ozone 2009 Ultralight19 down.

We had a chat and he invited me over for a beer. Not only did i get a beer, i also got to borrow a ultralight 19 from him. The one i flew last authum.

I walked up through the village and ended up at St Hubert for a 3 course meal with the british couple staying at Ben and Karens Gite. Nice food, nice hosts and company:-)

When i woke up today(monday) i could not remember going to beed… Must have been realy tired.

Iphone took all pics of todays blog. Forgot cardreader and wires for downloading from video…

will sort it tomorrow, since Kingy has some :-)

Whitewater kayaking and some flying…

Well weather has been good for kayaking. Lots of water and fairly good temperature. So me and Jonna went for some evening kayaking with local super hero kayaker/skier Jon Larsson.

But first we had some short flights to take away the worst flying frenzy. Fighting Fred and me. We were scratching the treetops for 10 minutes and then landed…

Me and Jon used to kayak alot 5-10 years ago. We were the first to kayak a river called Stryån. It will stay in my memory forever. Heli out to steep creeking and fantastic scenery in Skäckerfjällen with some of my best friends. Jon Larsson, Magnus Turesson and Markus Wassdahl. 5 minutes with the heli and 9 hours to get back… An Epic day.

The last 4 years i havent touched a kayak, i did nothin but paraglide for the last 5 years. But now i’m back and loving it. Being on the river, and in it :-) is a great feeling.

Hmm, today was the second day this week. Though i’m afraid i missed some flying today. Oh well life is good and today was a realy fun day.

I’ve made a little film from our first kayaking this summer. Just days ago. Enjoy. http://www.vimeo.com/4766878

Blue bird, off to Getryggen for some telemarking and speedriding.

Woke up hoping to get some flying today. I was wrong. No flying.

So me and Jonna went to Getryggen at Snasahögarna 50 km from Åre for some backcountry telemarking.

Conditions were perfect. Blue sky, sorbet snow and very few people. We got our kits ready and started skining up. It was hard work because i have not used that type of gear in 6-7 years. Neither have i telemarked. It was to be an intressting day…

My stamina is not so fantastic… hehe, but i got up, slightly slower than Jonna. She’s strong. She actually stopped and skied down to me as i got quite abit behind… Good girl. She had the sandwiches…

New telemarkboots and just mounted Linken bindings on my old K2 seth pistol. Great kit. Though i got blisters on the inside of my heels.

At the top i imagined myself that wind got weaker. I fooled myself…

However i got a short flight with my speedrider in turbulent conditions. Great fun!

After packing my glider i started telemarking the first time in 6-7 years. And to my surprice i still had it!!! I skied like back in the days. Surfy feeling with fat skiis and telemark. I like it alot, always did, just forgot…

I filmed alot with my Gopro hero video, all the riding is on a little film. You can see it at:

http://www.vimeo.com/4704021

We could ski all but a few meters of mossruning.

Back at the bus all parts of the body was screaming but we had some realy great skiing. I kinda said that i wish winter was around the corner…

Our tracks in the middle of the picture. Sweet.

Swedish reindeer. Lots of them. Kind of exotic. ;-)

Anyway, hunger hit us and we drove back to åre and had diner at Broken. Lovely mexican food. In the sun, beer, food and coffee.

Life is soooo good!!!

Disapointed. To darn windy today again…

I was expecting to be flying my new (old) glider today.

hmm. i got to do some groundhandling with my Airwave Magic4 large. It feels nice. Cant wait to fly it.

Swedish colours. What more could i want ;-)

Maybe flying conditions…

I visited the Åredagen today and got important info on whats going on and whats going to happen in Åre during this year and next. Very intresting.

It has been a very good winter for Skistar. Soo they charge us even more this summer. makes sence…:-(

Tomorrow we are going to Snasahögarna for a rando tour with our telemarkskis. Skinning up and carving down in perfect springsnow. Sounds good…

Magic4 in my bag and serviced Model F on the road

It was a sunny but sadly a rather windy day today. I was realy wishing for a sweet flying afternoon.

Especially since i recived my new glider today. An Airwave Magic4 large. Yeah yeah i know it’s not the latest model but the magic 4 is slightly bigger than the new magic5 so it might fit me better.

Though when checking total weight with my Airwave GT light, Supair Ultralight reserve and Airwave Magic4 Large, Pro-tec helmet and it all summed up to 12,5 kilos!!! Very nice package to carry.

I’m the one in the middle with smallest bag… Actually Sune is carrying a Magic4 as well, only his harness is slightly bigger, heavier… Jonna took the pics.

Soo me, Jonna, Sune and David(the new kid on the block) took my Toyota to Hummeln. Or slightly below. Still lots of snow on the road. Walked the last bit up to the takeoff, but it was windy and northerly. We waited halfanhour but it was only to enjoy the sun on lovely balcony of Hummelstugan. It was enjoyable but we were to return walking down to the buss and drive to Draklanda for a deserved BBQ. It’s fantastic when the sun start to get low and the light on the lake goes almost pink. Fantastic scenery!

Tomorrow we try again :-)

Oh yeah, testerday me and Jonna serviced my sweet Toyota Model F. New oil, oilfilter, airfilter and sparkplugs.

My first time sorting these things on a car/buss. It all worked out just fine. But i had to ask mike at Svartstål a couple of times. He’s a car fixer and i’m not ;-)

Jonna helped out with the sparkplugs. Extra good with small hands… not much space.

Under the bridge to Holiday club the old Tottramp has been stationed. Check the black floating Sauna in the lake…

Skaters are saying that it might be the start of a “burnside Åre”. I shure hope soo… :-)

More concrete skatepark in Sweden.

Take care

Fishing, almost flying and moving to a new cribb…

It’s been a couple of slow days but we have done alot.

On thursday we had Emma and Kaya the dog over for a BBQ and pancakes. A very nice afternoon and evening. We will do it again soon.

Friday evening we went with Fighting Fred to put some nets in the lake. And before that i drove Larsas car back from Östersund, he and the rest of the Åre paraposse left for Annecy. Lucky people. Smart people.

Since they left it’s only been one day for flying.

Anyway, early morning saturday me, Jonna and Fredrik L went out to the nets in the lake and they were full of trouts! 52 of them. Back home and sorting all of that. Smoked a couple for lunch. Fantastic food.

Though saturday was a good day for flying. Sune and David got a burly flight around 12 o’clock. Me and Fred went to Hummeln for an afternoonflight around 15.00.

It was very strong. 8-10 m/s and very short periods of calm air. Fred was on. He managed to get in the air in one okey period. I saw him getting blown to Totthummeln and trying to thermal but not cathing it. Thermals were blown apart.
I was not about to launch in hazardus conditions for a blownaway toptobottom… I chilled on takeoff.

Then the cloud went dark and the wind went down abit so i was observing what would happen. It started hailing…

I chilled some more and the wind went alot stronger. I called it a day and started walking down. Buttsliding on the snowfields in Gästrappet made the “walk” quite fun.

Very wet butt though ;-)

The last days have been rainy and windy. Perfect for moving in to our new home. Me and Jonna now live in a small apartment in Ängarna just west of Åre. Nice. Here’s some pics.

The placing of the kitchen underneath the stairs i slightly retarded but the place is small and i guess it was the easiest way to do it…

The ad for the flat said 40 m2 but it’s actually 28…:-(

I went to Järpen to get my Toyota Model F ready for driving on Swedish roads legaly…;-) Soo i checked my crashed Seat. Damn i was one lucky boy to get out of this unharmed. Check the pictures.

I have some problem with a SD cards soo wonderful fishing pics are coming as soon as i sort it…
