Here’s some more from the Vågåtrip.

Arne Kristians car for paragliding trips… I hate students, they have all summer free. Tom S is one of them.

Second task was held on sunday over in Böverdalen. Scenic place.

Today i borrowed my Little Cloud to Ronny. He took it for a flight and then ordered one of me. Now Micke K is up trying one flight with it. And yesterday Lars H tried one and said he was thinking of buying one…

Finally pilots are getting it…

Cloudberries are here. Time to go to the secret stashes ;-)

Vågå PG Open last day. Flying in åre as usuall… ;-)

Today it’s windy so i have time to update the blogg.

First out, the contest in Vågå was good fun but sadly not much luck weatherwise. But the tasks that happened was good and fun was had.

I ended up on 14th place and Ronny Helgesen won the comp. Congrats.

Last day in Vågå, we moved over to Böverdalen at the summerskicenter Juvasshytta. It’s very scenic and the flying is protected from strong winds they said…

Anyway i was out in the air early and that was good, but still not good enough. The wind was blowing alongside the hill next to takeoff so the thermals was not there. They were blown away i think ;-). After scratching and bumping i ended up low after some tactical fuckups and glided along after Ronny, slightly lower than him, into a leeside hellhole. Very intressting to see the old M2 do da snakeshake… He climbed out. I did not.

I will edit a film on the subject. Maybe later today…

Back in Åre i got a monday tandemflight and yesterday i flew from Åreskutan with my Little Cloud Spiruline 18. The wind was according to the windmeter on skutan 10-12 m/s, Sune told me on the landing. It felt fine to launch in. No probs whatsoever.

Pics from the bbq afterflight at Skysport Åre. Filip is the instructor at Skysport these days, and the dude with snuff (snus in Swedish) under his lip is Ronny from Dorotea…

First task of Vågå PG Open. Finally.

Finally! on friday we had good conditions for a task. After going to Vole takeoff and the race organizers setting a task it was open window. A long awaited one.

Ronny Helgesen and Gunnar Seabu was the first to go. They glided over to Skagsnebb and were struggling to get up. It was weak and clouds were in the way of the sun. I chilled out on take off. I’m heavy in my lovely M2 so i waited. And waited. The startsignal went of and i was still on take off. Hmm. Not good.

Then all of a sudden the sky cleared abit and the sun shined hard on the valeey and slopes. Thermic activity was on. I took off and went straight into a nice thermal. I wasted no time once i was airborne. Went over to Skagsnebb, climbed out fast, seeing the outcome of a midair collision that went well, and glided on to next turnpoint. I got good height on the way over there and with some tailwind it was a easy ride…

However, when turning around thing started to mess with my ride…

Speedbar was used but i had lots of lifting air so i used that on the way over to a big canyon and glided on back over to Skagsnebb. Easy climbing and i was back over at takeoff in a whisper…

Once i got there it was raining a little. I took the turnpoint and turned back to skagsnäbb side by side with Arne Kristian Boisen. During this glide the safety chanel on the radio was used and the word was that the task was stopped due to massive rain on take off. Very sad since conditions were stonkin’ once we left the blackclouds. But the decision was right. Lots of pilots were on their way to take the takeoff waypoint. Some even got their gliders wet and all kinds off shit…

I landed over at the Holungsöy camping next to the hut we stay in. Packed my glider, made a coffee, shared it with a fellow Norwegian pilot who also landed at the camping.

Vågå is a great place for xc. No doubt. I like it!

Below is some fun from Norway.

First out is team Monkeybiz,

Micke K has done more wierd stuff,

We had Frode Halse for diner last night. Frode Nimbus as he’s known on National Geogreaphic…

Norwegian wallposter,

Nic the Norwegian Advance dealer brought his harness hangtest thingy. Nice…

Anyway. Go to Vågå. Bring whitewater kayak ;-)

More pics from Vågå Norway. But still no compflying…

Weather stays on the evil side. Non flyable conditions.

But spirits are high, it look’s better tomorrow friday. I realy want a nice task here in Vågå. Brit Sörum and AK gone bananas… ;-)

Two pics below: Arne Kristian “AK” Boiesen is the comp organizer.

Yesterday he and a couple of others tried the Little Cloud on the landingfield. They all want to fly it… ;-)

Brett Simpson trying to tell his hangglider to pack itself. No luck though…

Packing hanggliders makes Brett this hungry…

In cherge of bbq de hangie was non other than Ernst. Ebbeflug as he’s known. The hangies even feed us paragliders ;-)

Sjoa river is a whitewater paradise. Next time i will bring my kayak. For shure.

Micke Kjellman is here too, he’s done strange things. Watering on takeoff was one of them…

Jon Björnback flew a 214km flight taking off in the northern part of Norway but flying most of the flight in Sweden. I asked how far he flew in Sweden, Jon answered around 155km. Well Jon that means U have the new swedish open distance record. Peter Wicanders old 150.2 km is broken. By a Norwegian… hahaha. I dont know the rules for open distance records, but well flown by Jon.

Jonna has found a new favorit helmet, Sweet Rooster. Pink with a puppy on the back. Oh yeah, Sweet is a Norwegian company…

Well tis place is nothin short of breathtaking. Fantastic scenery with turqouise rivers with brutal whitewater sections running in the deep valleys. Above the valleyfloor the moountains rise high and proud. It has the terrain to dream of when planing xc flying.

Here the Norwegians have their airsport center. a building with all the facilities wanted of flyers. And more… Perfect for a paraglidingcomp

But,

it’s raining loads. The two first days it rained hard. Today it was perfect blue sky in the morning hours. Briefing was sat at 9.30, and then we went up to the takeoff at Vole. New briefing was set at 11.30. By then it was strong winds. Only one pilot took of for a flight Jon Björnback. He’s the dude who flew from the Bodö area to Arvidsjaur in Sweden. A mere 200 k’s…

The rest of us decided to ride the bus of shame to the valley. Ronny Helgesen did the same… siting in the far end and hiding from cameras ;-)

-We were all dressed up but nowhere to go… Wise words of Frode Halse(Nimbus)

Tonight we have a bbq with the Åre hangiesection. They bring the meat. We only eat… The Åre hangies are fun guys, the pour hot coffe on them selves…

The norwegians are clever.(because they eat smart food. Whales for example.) Just look at their milkcartons. Measurements on the side. Great!!!

Soaring, acro and Little cloud, trippletandem, just flying…

Wow, Åre realy delivers this summer. Maybe it’s because i dont have a regular work… :-)

Yesterday was sunny and warm. The day started with 4 tandems and then a “late” lunch. Three of the flight were termic. The last one was with takeoff abit down because of northeast wind. The thermal over the village sent my vario up to screaming. Around 6-7 meters a second, and a big collapse.Sweet rock’n roll highpressure thermals!

After that i went up to Hummeln with the Åre posse. It was very soarable. I filmed some and then had a great flight. Soaring with Ronny and Emil. Then went to the acrobox and pulled the heli out of the bag. Very happy to finally finding the helispot. Fuuuun!!! Video from yesterday. http://www.vimeo.com/5657738

Pål Rognöy flew BOTH his daughters. Vera in the front and Pippi in the middle. Pippi was very happy for her first flight. Vera is an experienced passenger. :-)

Micke Kjellman has borrowed a Axis Mercury from Fighting Fred, so now he will be the top Swede. Micke is a very good pilot. He might surprice the Norwegians… Micke is a lean, mean, race machine ;-)

The little cloud is attracting lots of tryers. Tonight Helena and Jarl did groundhandling with it. It is soo much fun for all levels. Helena did her basic training a couple of weeks ago…

I’m editing a little cloud film any day now…

Now i’m packing for a trip to Vågå. Vågå pg open is starting on monday. I hope the weatherforcast for the next week gets better. It look’s like shit at the moment.

More flying in mixed weathers…

Realy intresting week, thunder and lightning, thermaling, evening ttb’s and overall nice temperature.

I’ve been flying alot but mainly short flights with lots of G’s. Just what the doc ordered… But this week i actually worked abit at Skysport. Good fun to teach abit again. Kinda missed it :-)

We managed to give our students 5 flight (510 altitude meters) each in 3.5 hours. Fast but always safe. And always fun! I was on takeoff all morning. It was fun to get new pilots in the air.

A bunch of freeflyers joined us as schooling went to tandemflight in thermic air. Fun was had in massive amounts. Just check my vid. Listen to that lady… http://www.vimeo.com/5623855

I have flown abit more with the ever sweet Little Cloud Spiruline 18. I like it alot. No bad thing about it. Just pure light fun. For almost all pilots… ;-) Check vid above for Little Cloud flying.

Also Kjelle was there with his new super cool dog. Buck.

Awhile ago i took the picture below, just outside our flat. Look at those beautiful lenticularis. I like clouds… Yeah the scooter is mine :-)

Superb day in åre

WOW!!!

A couple of days ago it rained massive amounts…The Susa creek was high.

And my tennisracket got pimped by Jonna. Sweet. Both of them…

Nice monday.

Forecast was not epic. But the day started at 07.00. Student flying from Hummeln in nice conditions.I got a flight with my octane before starting tandemflying. Some freestyle in the morning is sweet. Me and Filip did a couple of tandems inbetween kicking students of the hill. Then it got thermic and we went up to Skutan for more tandems. I had a fun lady who was laughing more or less the whole flight! :-)

I have it on vid’, will sort it tomorrow, so be back for a laugh…

Later in the afternoon the sky opened up and rain was pouring down. Fresh air. At 18.00 we went up for more tandems and schooling. I did another two flights. One top to bottom and one with some soaring. On the first flight Daniel came flying above us, he had stayed on the mountain since lifts closed…Hardcore, nice one :-)

Pål Rognöy had a go on my Little Cloud. He was saying out loud that it was a perfect funmachine while jumping around and soaring in the eveningair. He liked it alot he said. I hope he will put out a film from the flight. He shurte looked like he had shitloads of fun!!!

I only have iphone pics of his playsession…

I took of on a tandem after this pics were taken. Normal soaring conditions. Lovely. As soon as i landed it started raining, while the sun shined… Rainbowtime.

Even an american flew this evening, Chino from New Mexico had a flight. Though i think he was more impressed by the light.

Some more studentflight and Filip came down, swoopsession, though not enough speed. Splash!!!

Filip came to a halt flat on his belly, totally unharmed. Smiling. Nice show Filip!

All in all a great day among friends!

I did six flights today.

Thank’s eveyone for a great flying day!

See U on the mountain ;-)

Evening of the 6th of july with flying and awakenings…

On the 6th of july I spent the whole day at my storage room, making more room in there…

Throw away old crap i dont use any longer. Felt fine.

Then i the afternoon i heard from SkysportLars that it might be flyable in the evening. So i hurried back to Åre.

First i was the shuttlebunny for some freeflyers,

David tried my Little Cloud and sounded like he liked it. He was at least smiling when i meet him on the landing. Here’s his words about it, in Swedish. http://bengtsson.net/?p=3033

Then i took a scenic tandem in soft conditions and later a flight with my Little Cloud. After that i convinced Filip Haraldsson, instructor at Skysport, to try my Little Cloud. He said he was very impressed with it’s stability and the fact that it was very easy to launch, fly and land.

I hope alot of pilots try it and see for themselves. But for now it’s so new with minigliders to the Swedish pilots that it’s almost out of bounds for most of them. I shall awake them ;-)

Little Clouds to the people!!!

Today it rains and i’ve spent the day at home. Made a new film from my not so good xc attemt the other day… enjoy ;-)

Unexpected eveningflights :-)

Yesterday was a day for indoor activities, i thought…

A 16.00 it started shining outside my storage room. Got back to Åre and activities were on. Two guys had just landed. I did a tandem, a flight with my Little Cloud and two shuttle rounds. Light was very nice this evening, sadly i took pictures with a silly compact camera without memorycard. No probs since the camera has built in memory but i have no cables… :-(

Though Sune took a nice picture of me.

More of Sunes stuff cn bwe found on his blogg, http://tillsune.blogspot.com/

Iphone pictures of the day.

So now we know were the treasure is…
